A speed control technique of heavy-duty vehicles in acceleration is proposed in this paper. The speed control technique in deceleration which has been proposed by the authors is applied to acceleration speed control of heavy-duty vehicles. The control technique is based on a concept of constant acceleration. By using the control technique, desired speed and distance can be achieved. Both control techniques for acceleration and deceleration can be represented by a single formula. Simulation is carried out considering acceleration characteristics of heavy-duty vehicles. Performance of speed control of heavy-duty vehicles has been observed.
