A comprehensive aeroelastic analysis is developed for advanced tiltrotor configurations. An elastic-blade rotor model is formulated to predict the performance, vibratory loads, and aeroelastic stability of composite-coupled advanced geometry tiltrotors including the effects of wing, fuselage and gimbal motion. Full wing-span and twin-rotors are modeled. Finite element modeling is used along with normal mode reduction to make the analysis robust and efficient. Different flight conditions modeled are helicopter (hover and forward flight), conversion and airplane modes of operation. Predicitions from this analysis for trim controls, response, loads and aeroelastic stability correlate well with flight test data and predictions from other established analyses.
