Simulation models of hybrid EVs for various car types using ceramic gas turbine (CGT) are developed to evaluate its dynamic performance in practical use, especially in terms of energy efficiency. Similar models for ICE (Internal combustion engine) cars of the same grade with transmission gears are also developed to compare the performance in the same condition. Overall performance of those alternative systems, including series and parallel hybrid systems are analyzed and compared. Desirable hybrid system structures and control schemes are also investigated by the simulation studies for several alternative components. By the simulation analysis, it is estimated that in most cases, series hybrid systems with enough power sources will realize the best performances both for light passenger cars and heavy duty vehicles. In all cases, it is estimated that those series hybrid systems would realize better performances than conventional ICE cars in the market. In the paper, outline of the analyzed system configuration with system components, and summary of obtained results by the simulation study is shown with the evaluation technique, and remaining technical problems are discussed.
