The aromatic polyamide hellow fiber membrane designed for a reverse osmosis system suitable for intake water containing 35000 ppm of dissolved solids was subjected to high salinity water ranging from 20000 to 53000 ppm to evaluate its performance. The temperature of the intake water varied between 17 deg C and 35 deg C to study its effects on permeation, recovery and salt rejection. The values of recovery were between 34 % and 42 %, and the salt rejection was above 99 %. Both these values were higher than expected.
