Increasing demands to reduce product cost and delivery time while increasing quality have implemented quality management systems, as they are addressed in ISO 9000 ff, as an essential tool when producing new products. To design new products these systems have to be adapted to the product development process. By integrating parts of the quality management systems, e.g. QFD (Quality Function Development), into a systematic design process, many quality aspects, as for instance the voice of the customer, have to be combined with a design method. But todays products also have to consider environmental problems. Beside the recycling of these products, the general aspect of environment during production and use have to be taken into consideration in the design phases. This papers will point out a suggestion for integrating the aspects of quality and environment into a product developement process using a design method, as a first step towards a general view on product development.
