The modern NVH development requires a consequent up-front optimisation of all involved systems, subsystems and components. If no appropriate CAE tools are available to describe an NVH phenomenon in detail hybrid models based on measurements must be used. For the lower-frequency transmission of road/tyre noise to the passengers such a hybrid model can be created using Noise Path Analysis (NPA) techniques. The transfer matrix method for Noise Path Analysis calculates the excitation forces by inversion of the vibrational body transfer matrix. Bad or non-accessible chassis/body connections are teckled by using complementary points. Additional measuring locations on the body can reduce the influence of measurement errors and improve the quality of the force calculation. The applicability of this process is shown for raod/tyre noise transmission to the passengers.
