CIM is a strategic solution for enterprises to meet competitive demands. At present, there is no common accepted prescription to implement CIM concept. A stepwise approach is taken by Dong Feng Automobile Corporation to realise their CIM development program. The first step of the program is to establish a integrated CAD/CAPP/CAM system for autobody development and panel die design and manufacturing. In this paper, the necessity of integration is analysed, and the models and architecture of the system is discussed.
