Recent environmental concerns about pollution and energy conservation have heightened the need to develope clean, fuel-efficient vehicles. One such solution could be an electric vehicle, which draws its power from rechargeable traction batteries. Widespread use of electric vehicles will require both longer range and higher speed. Nissan has developed a high performance electric vehicle called the Future Electric Concept Vehicle (FEV). This vehicle provides improved range and speed as a result of reductions achieved in aerodynamic drag, rolling resistance and curb weight. The FEV is powered by newly developed nickel-cadmium batteries and features Nissan's Super Quick Charging System, which is an effective way to overcome the drawback of limited range.
