The hypersonic flow about a missile in close proximity to its parent vehicle is discussed. The study utilizes a Navier-Stokes solution based on the ARC3D code. A simple and unique grid generation procedure is used to resolve the flow on the store and vehicle and in the gap between them. In addition, a new boundary condition is used to limit the lateral extent of the computation domain. The interference flow field produced by the interaction of strong shock waves and boundary layers on the missile and parent vehicle is discussed in detail.
