Important stationary components of the experimental motor vehicle gas turbine which is currently under development at Daimler-Benz AG are manufactured from the ODS-superalloys Incoloy MA 956 and Inconel MA 754. This paper reports the reasons for choosing these materials, experience gained in the production and testing of components and the results of the parallel development of processing technologies and material investigations. The paper is rounded off with a number of suggestions for material development based on the results from this work.
