In order to numerically analyze the flow around a automobile, which involves separations and wakes, a two-equation level turbulence model or higher one is required. In this paper, two methods, one of which is the finite difference method (FDM), the other based on the finite volume method (FVM) are examined using the k-epsilon turbulence model. The pressure distribution over the 2D vehicle body surface and wake structure behind the vehicle are compared. The Reynolds number and mesh density effects are also discussed and appraised.
