Aware of the robotic developments in the aerospace field, AMD-BA has created the Industrial Robotic Technical Center to design and develop robotic applications, in cooperation with production plants. In one of these applications, in Bordeaux, two robots work simultaneously on both sides of a wing assembly. After the substructure of the wing is assembled, the miled and formed panels are presented on the structure and drilled before final assembly. The robots perform temporary assembly, drilling and countersinking, and insert pins to secure the panels. They use sensors for precision location of the wing, and compute new trajectories before completing their tasks.
