A two degrees of freedom active suspension is analyzed theoretically and experimentally for its performance sensitivity as a function of the linear feedback gains of the control system. The performance is examined through the car body vertical acceleration, truck-guideway gap variations and suspension working space excursions. Some invariant properties of vehicle suspensions and ways to simplify the measurement structure are examined.
