The creation of an Air Staff software management group demonstrates a commitment to meet the software challenge. The group's initial task was to develop a methodology-based on some logical, easily recognizable process-to 'rack and stack' past recommendations. More than 70 percent of these addressed actions that would affect the entire software life cycle. On the basis of this effort, the group is focusing its resources on recommendations that will provide cost-effective, Air Force-wide solutions. This work provided the basis of a cohesive game plan to improve management of software within the service.
