The author describes the Kenwood DLD (dynamic linear drive) system for management of a car electrical system to minimise both overloads and overall consumption. The main schematic is given and is based on the use of two amplifiers, one high and one low power. The operation of this is explained, together with that of the 'VIG' interface used. This uses an intelligent circuit of 'super compression' type, switching with the amplifiers. A special connecting technique is also employed (termed 'Sigma Drive') and this is explained, with a schematic and explanatory graphs.
