The authors describe a project designed to combine the ordalt (ordnance alteration) and casrep (casualty report) requests with the ship locations report to produce a more efficient manner in which to monitor ordalt requests, casrep requests, and ship locations. This was done using a sample database which would realistically contain ordalt data, casrep data, and ship locations. The database was interfaced to a computer graphics program which monitored ship movement throughout the world and supplied information from the database whenever requested. The authors discuss the hardware and software used to implement the project. In particular, the IBM color/graphics adapter and the Paradox relational database software are described in some detail.
