The geostationary meteorological satellite of Japan, HIMAWARI, makes meteorological observation of the Earth from north to south by repeating west-to-east observations 2500 times, rotating (100 rpm) on its own axis. Through one-day observations, 17 mb and 100 mb data observed by infrared and visible observations respectively are used for weather forecasting after the processes of measurement, statistical processing and transformation into images. Meteorological satellite data are applied for; measurement and forecasting of the storm lanes and areas, observation of Baiu front activities, forecasting of local heavy snow by observation of changes of cumulus clouds by cold air mass, wind direction/velocity, vertical distributions of temperatures and humidity, etc.
