The growing interest in the military potential of high-power microwaves is discussed. The effect of such radiation on hardware is examined. Limits on beam intensity are identified, and methods for generating the beam are described. Biological effects of microwaves and the potential use against troops are discussed. The practicality of microwave-based weapons is assessed with regard to cost and military effectiveness.
