Many applications in the transportation sector require a power source that can provide high current discharge, be charged in a short amount of time, and will last for the life of the vehicle. The PRI Ultracapacitor is an ideal component for such a system. Already the PRI Ultracapacitor has demonstrated high energy and power densities combined with high cycle life and environmental survivability. With improvements in process control to be expected in the PRI/Westinghouse prototype facility, higher energy modules will be available, surpassing PRI's current module capacity and providing the SLI (starting, lighting, ignition) community with test modules capable of the high energy and power densities required.
