The acceleration of vehicle development cycles and the necessary search for technical solutions capable of reducing the cost of systems involve ever closer collaboration between manufacturers, automotive equipment suppliers and their own suppliers. Taking advantage of wide expertise in car body electronics and electrical components (motors, sensors, wiring harness ...), a new Automatic Driver Positionning System has been developed by SIEMENS Automotive. The ADPS definition results from a deep analysis and optimisation of the electric and electronic components and functions integrated within the whole cockpit architecture. Therefore the result is an innovative mechatronics system integrated within the seat and capable to meet state of the art in cost / performance / quality / flexibility figures.
