Doppler and frequency selectivity effects on the performance of vehicle-to-vehicle highway communication systems at 60 GHz, are evaluated. The environment under investigation is typical of PROMETHEUS applications. Performance evaluation for both omnidirectional and directional antennas is carried out. An analytical approach to evaluate average bit error probability for an MSK system with limiter-discriminator-integrator detector in a Rayleigh fading channel taking filter distortion, noise, time and frequency selectivity into account, is exploited. The optimum bit rate can be determined as a trade-off between time and frequency selective effects.
