Photovoltaic (PV) arrays on space satellites and on the Moon are exposed to extreme temperature variations. The solar cell arrays also operate in the conditions of AMO. The PV module performance decreases at higher temperatures. The presented work utilizes a computer program developed to carry out detailed computations of photovoltaic parameters. Calculations have been performed on temperature dependence of single-junction cell parameters of single-crystal Si, InP, and GaAs cells and polycrystalline CdTe and CuInSe2 cells. Optimum bandgaps of two-junction solar cells at different temperatures and AMO conditions were determined. The temperature dependence of solar cell parameters of the two-junction cells were also calculated. The result constitutes an improvement over the assumption of a linear variation of efficiency with temperature.
