Für die spanische Staatsbahn liefert ein deutsch-schweizerisches Firmen-Konsortium unter Federführung von Siemens Zweisystemlokomotiven, die in einem 25-kV/50-Hz-Wechselspannungsnetz und einem 3-kV-Gleichspannungsnetz laufen können. Abgeleitet von der DB-Baureihe 120 sind die Loks für schweren Güterzugverkehr ebenso einsetzbar wie für schnelle Reisezüge bis 220 km/h. Sie sind mit Drehstrom-Asynchronmotoren, GTO-Thyristoren und Mikroprozessorsteuerung ausgerüstet. Die Dauerleistung besträgt 5600 kW. Sie sind für Außentemperaturen bis 50 Cel ausgelegt.
