Precise traffic information in urban regions offer new options for a resource consumption dependent routing advice: a method for the estimation of vehicle specific and traffic congestion related additional energy consumption for combustion engines in vehicles is presented. If car industry will produce more and a large variety of light/mild/micro hybrid electrical vehicles up to purely electrical vehicles the question arises how to realize an energy efficient routing in highly congested traffic networks. We start to investigate the energy consumption for congestions for combustion engines. First results for relative additional energy consumption based on microscopic traffic simulation and empirical measurements in a city show the relevant information for a routing approach using energy parameters of vehicles.
