The primary defined goal of a Smart Grid is the prevention of grid overloads. This prevention affects every participant in the grid. From the author's point of view, this is probably the most urgently task which requires strong improvements and a rethink of all involved parties. Securely collecting all the generated grid data is not easy, but evaluating these data and doing a perfect load management will be the hardest part. It requires reliable data and arrangements between all parties; otherwise the common goals might fail. Additionally, the Smart Grid cannot be considered as one single network which must be controlled: Each house, street and neighbourhood must be considered and local overload must be prevented, too. Charge point vendors, central management system operators and energy providers have one thing in common: They all need to consider the security of the transmitted data in their Smart Grid plans. The authenticity of participating entities as well as the integrity of data is essential for the success of the concept. Successful attacks may lead to grid overloads, targeted over- or undercapacity and destruction of expensive devices. In order to realize a stable and balanced Smart Grid, standards are very important. This concerns all parts of the process, regardless if physical (like plugs, cables or socket) or logical (data communication, roaming). At least in Europe Union, the type 2 connector developed by MENNEKES is named as the standard. Thus, all electric vehicles sold in the EU must be equipped with this socket. This decision ensures interoperability between different charging stations and different EVs. As previously mentioned, data transportation protocols need some kind of standardization, too. It should be desirable for all players to focus on a single protocol for communication between entities, always keeping feasibility and infrastructure costs in mind.
