This paper used key word retrieval technology to present the development tendency of rail transit in China from the aspect of patent number, applicants, main patent technology, and find that the number of patent applications is increasing in recent years, and Beijing Jiaotong University is one of the major research institutions. The paper also contrasted the rail transit development of Beijng Jiaotong University and Xinan Jiaotong University, which are among the top four transportation universities in China. Finally, the paper used the IPC classification and retrieval technology and Life Cycle method to present the development tendency in the area of train operation safety and optical information storage, and find that the technology of train operation safety is increasing in recent years.
