A new driver assistance system is developed based on the 'Human-Inspired Concept'. As the one of the functions, longitudinal control in response not only to a proceeding vehicle but also to road curvature was developed by combining 'Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)' with 'Preview G-Vectoring Control' algorithm, which controls longitudinal-acceleration by predicted and actual lateral motion of the vehicle like a skilled driver doing. The effectiveness was verified by driving tests on dry-asphalt in Germany. The test results show that the function can reduce the driver's pedal works (especially brake pedal works) without excessive slow-down and help smooth cornering like skilled driver doing on a winding road.
