With the Euro-VI engines PACCAR introduced a High Pressure Common Rail fuel injection system, equipped with two high pressure fuel pumps, one high pressure rail and six injectors. The system is capable of 2500 bar nominal rail pressure. The two high pressure fuel pumps are integrated in the cylinder block and driven by a camshaft with dedicated pump lobes. This can be on the existing camshaft like MX-13 or on a dedicated cam-in-block like MX-11. Advantages compared to a bolt-on high pressure pump are: Optimal Layout; compact packaging in the limited space of the cam- and auxiliaries gear train; Low pressure fuel and oil supply machined in the block giving a reduced number of external lines; reduced noise by block stiffness and cam phasing.
