The paper presents a comprehensive analysis of the influence vehicle suspension geometry and real vehicle driving conditions have on rolling resistance. The first analyses, based on the variation of single parameters, depict the main effects of toe, camber and tyre load. Simply due to toe and camber angle rolling resistance force may vary up to 5%. For the second analyses it has been necessary to derive the operating ranges via simulation, using data signals collected by BMW customers. For these analyses an experimental design has been generated through Halton's LDS, varying all design variables simultaneously. This approach depicts both main and combined effects of design variables on rolling resistance force. It has been shown that slip angle and tyre load are the two dominant design variables: their effects may vary the rolling resistance force up to 500%.
