In recent years it has became obvious that, as regards vehicle comfort, feel has become more and more important to customers. One important aspect here is the in-vehicle noise level. Dual impedance film technology, especially when used as a dashboard inner noise absorption insulation system, is able to offer engineers a good solution for an efficient reduction in vehicle noise levels. As part of an engineering project in close collaboration between Ford and the HP Pelzer Group, the new DIF technology has been developed for introduction into high-volume mass production. Compared to other systems on the market this technology, using synthetic fibers and film combined with recycled cotton fibers, incorporates cost and weight opportunities coupled with excellent acoustic performance.
