Pure electric vehicles are being widely developed due to their better performance than the traditional fuel vehicles in terms of environmental pollution and energy consumption. However, comparing with the petroleum vehicles, the relatively short driving distance of the pure electric vehicle is the main hindrance to prevail. In this paper, the regenerative braking force was analysed and the distribution range of the braking forces in the front and rear wheels in the vehicle was determined. An optimised control strategy of the regenerative braking process was proposed based on the results of the analysis. Then the regenerative braking process is simulated utilising the optimised control strategy. Simulation results indicated that this optimised control strategy can considerably improve the energy efficiency of the regenerative braking process, as well as that of the entire vehicle.
