In general, this paper describes a vehicle-based technical framework, which is capable to detect, classify, track and finally highlight moving objects (e.g. pedestrian, cyclists, game animal, etc.) within the traffic environment. As introduction, we will briefly motivate an implemented tracking approach, which integrates a so called Interacting Multiple Model (IMM). This IMM guarantees object tracking in distances up to 100 m based on one monocular far-infrared (FIR) imager. More technical details will be outlined on that in the main part of this paper. Furthermore, we will present a rough system overview of our testing vehicle, which has recently been prepared to be used for extensive system testing as well as test person surveys. This overview will illustrate some hard- and software modules we have integrated lately, to mark objects from a moving base. Additional focus will be given on our designed prototype lighting modules, which integrate XENON head lamp units plus high-power LEDs with a bi-convex multiple lenses system.
