In this paper a simulation model of the electric powertrain of a battery electric vehicle is proposed. The aim is to analyze the power flow, power losses and the efficiency of the electric traction over driving cycles, which are used in the automobile industry to design the drivetrain of a vehicle. The characteristics of the electric machine are derived from FEM-calculations. For the simulation model these input data fields have to be adopted in several steps, which is the content of this paper. Consequently, different electric machine topologies can be analyzed quickly concerning the efficiency and the interaction to the power electronics.
