The paper focuses on the assembly of large and complex products of the machine, facility and commercial vehicles industry. While companies of this branch of industry have to cope with high product variety and assembly process complexity, the production control methods currently available do not fulfil the requirements of these companies. Thus, the article describes the usage of value based resource allocation for the adaptive control of assembly stations in paced assembly lines under consideration of given constraints. After a short introduction to the situation in production areas mentioned above, the approach of a decentralised resource allocation and the results of the computational investigation of the system are presented.
