Canada has developed the Soldier Systems Technology Roadmap (SSTRM) which has now reached its implementation phase. SSTRM is a industry-government partnership which has been aiming since its development in 2004 at enhancing military and industry to meet the needs and requirements not only in technical areas but also regarding personal and protective equipments and human and systems integration. Canada is the only country to develop a technology roadmap within National Defence. To better meet the needs of soldiers, collaboration is the key issue. Therefore an annual Solider Systems event will take place. Innovation funding proposals will be supported and networks to increase synergy between industry, academia and National Defence will be developed. Therefore a Soldier Systems technical network has been created. For industry, even small and medium sized companies, the innovation network and the SSTRM will help in international marketing and procurement as well.
