The main elements of the equipment in the field of power engineering such as the pipelines work at the high temperature and pressure. The structure degradation appears as a result of those hard conditions. At the present time the assessment of the materials from the steam generators is carried out usually by metallographic analysis and mechanical testing. The main purpose of the work is to study the dependence of the ultrasonic wave parameters on the structure state in tubes of boilers at thermoelectric power station. The changes of the velocity, spectra and attenuation of ultrasonic surface waves are caused by degradation of the structure and can be used for residual life estimation of the equipment. The used device and procedure give the possibilities for the registration of the structure changes. For development of the good procedure one needs detailed investigation for the whole period of service of the pipes by studying the degradation processes. Further studies with ultrasonic surface waves following developed methodology are coming.
