In propeller-driven airplanes, the most distinct disturbing interior noise is caused by external tonal stimulation. To achieve a reduction of the sound pressure level in the interior, Active Noise Reduction (ANR) methods can be applied. Conventional loudspeakers in ANR systems have an efficiency of less than 4%. To achieve an 'acoustic curtain', several loudspeakers must be installed, making weight an important factor as well. Therefore, the loudspeakers have to be optimized in efficiency and weight for tonal applications. The general idea as well as numerical and analytical investigations will be discussed
