This article shows the potential to influence the vehicle dynamics by means of controlled LFD (air spring damper). In summary the course control by means of adaptive LFD offers a very good opportunity to make a decisive improvement in self-steering behavior towards more agile handling and simultaneous ensure the stability. Further investigations concerning the influence of the LFD control on comfort and safety were made. How to expect a increasing of the roll stiffness causes a loss in comfort and damping. Therefore virtual road trials with blow by valves in the LFD were made in combination with real road profiles. The vertical vehicle acceleration could be decreased for 12 percent and the dynamic wheel loads for 6 percent, however the integral offset to the set point course increases for 5 percent using the LFD with blow by valves. Therefore further investigations to optimize the LFD controller concerning dynamics, comfort and safety are necessary.
