This paper is presenting the genesis of alternative VISTEON variable front lighting concepts, starting from static and dynamic multi source systems, variable projector shield system, to fully variable condenser lens, variable reflector and variable light source projector systems. Their dipped and driving beam side spread is reducing with the vehicle speed rise to follow the drivers useful visual field behavior, while hot spot light intensity is increasing as the result of the luminous flux concentration in the central beam area of those beams. The integration of the variable condenser and variable source system in the integral variable projector can be considered as next step. Even the higher level of integration can represent the advanced variable projector, where the variable shield module is implemented to the integral variable projector. This advanced variable projector could be further assembled to vehicle not parallel dynamic bending headlamp system too, providing full front lighting adaptation and variability at real road scene. The level of integration will be nevertheless limited by real value of variability for the customer, system cost and its technical feasibility and reliability.
