This paper presents the design of a neural network-based dynamic inversion (DI) controller for landing a fighter aircraft in a severe storm. The nonlinear equations of motion with the inclusion of turbulent windshear are described. Three radial basis function (RBF) neural networks (NN) are constructed to model the aileron, elevator and rudder control channels respectively. The aircraft speed is stabilized by using a proportional controller for the thrust channel. The effectiveness of the proposed controller is demonstrated with simulation results.
