The increasing environmental awareness and the shortage of fossil fuels are pushing the development of hybrid vehicles. For the bi-directional connection of the high voltage battery with the conventional electrical vehicle system (14V), a powerful and efficient DC/DC converter is necessary. One of the key components of the converter is the high frequency power transformer, which has been analyzed in this research project in relation to its electric and magnetic losses. The result is a comparison of analytical values, finite element simulations with Maxwell2D and measurements under real condition.
