Durch die gestiegenen Transportgeschwindigkeiten fällt der Fahrdynamik in der Entwicklung von Traktoren eine erweiterte Bedeutung zu. Neben der Betrachtung der komfortorientierten Vertikaldynamik rückt die Querdynamik bzw. das Handling in den Mittelpunkt der Betrachtung. Basierend auf Methoden zur Beschreibung der Fahrdynamik von Straßenfahrzeugen wurden Standardtests zur Charakterisierung der Handling-Eigenschaften von Traktoren definiert und durchgeführt.
Today, after another 20 years of development, the upper limit for transport speeds has reached 50 km/h and will be extended to 60 km/h or higher. The transport speed is only one design characteristic that depicts how tractors have evolved in the past several decades. The increase in operating speeds in general has revealed the need for considering the vehicle dynamics of agricultural tractors. The applied test methods revealed a detailed description of the handling characteristics of an agricultural standard tractor. The vehicle dynamic measurement equipment used and facilities provided good repeatability and gave a useful insight on the standard and limit operating conditions of a tractor. The observed dynamic behavior during the physical test offers the possibility to validate and refine virtual vehicle dynamics testing by applying the same methods in a virtual test environment. The result is a more accurate prediction of vehicle dynamics of tractors from simulations and a reduced physical test effort.
