A Sensor Waveform Assessor (SWA) was developed as part of CAE sensor methodology development for application to control primarily the quality of CAE generated sensor waveforms. It can be used to test evaluations as well. This is a key tool used in a critical path in the CAE sensor implementation process by the CAE safety and restraint engineers to assess CAE results for further improvement of front impact sensor models and final approval of virtual (i.e. CAE or math-based) signals prior to submitting sensor pulses to sensor engineers for sensor calibrations. The source code of SWA is generated using C++ and can be compiled into executable codes for different workstation platforms, thus allowing CAE safety engineers to use this programme in a Unix environment. This paper describes its underlying principles, ranking criteria and application to evaluating CAE sensor pulses.
