In modem motor vehicles, intelligent headtamps make a significant contribution towards increased safety and comfort, in other words to improving active safety. According to the motto 'See and be seen', so-called AFS functions (Advanced Frontlighting System) are being used more and more often in headlamps. In modem motor vehicles, intelligent headtamps make a significant contribution towards increased safety and comfort, in other words to improving active safety. According to the motto 'See and be seen', so-called AFS functions (Advanced Frontlighting System) are being used more and more often in headlamps. Feedback systems with robust and reliable position sensor systems are becoming increasingly important in complex mechatronic systems e.g. intelligent headlamps. For this reason, innovative MEMS based magnet sensors, such as 3D Hall sensors in particular, seem predestined for such measuring tasks. In order to achieve a sufficiently precise estimation or evaluation of the suitability of Hall sensors at the concept preparation stage while minimizing effort, suitable system models are to be used to help systematically analyze the wide range of solution variants with computer support. This is explained in more detail in this paper. The sensor discussed here mainly comprises the following basic functional blocks: A Hall sensor matrix with three separately detecting Hall element structures for the determination of all components of the magnetic field independent of location, a signal processing and amplification, an application-specific interface for data communication with the complete system headlamp swiveling module.
