Control software of compact satellites shall handle faults in sensors and actuators and it shall minimise their effects. Faults are no rarity for compact satellites, because of the hostile space environment. Therefore it is necessary to verify the behaviour of control software in a disturbed environment. In the project SiLEST it is developed tools and a test bed for testing this kind of software. The application of the tools and the test bed were evaluated using the attitude control system of the BIRD micro satellite and using an automotive engine controller. In the following, an overview is given of the approach to test the robustness against faults of satellite control software. The authors present their test approach to test embedded software using a fault simulation for devices. It is described how to get test cases from operational and fault scenarios.
