Automatic Dependence Surveillance - Broadcast (ADS-B) integration within Advanced-Surface Movement Guidance and Control Systems (A-SMGCS) is one the key areas of investigation that have been identified by several international organisations as relevant for a future operational adoption. For an A-SMGCS, ADS-B is a new cooperative sensor able to locate and identify all suitable equipped mobiles moving in airport areas. When based on the 1090 MHz frequency, ADS-B may share the same data link and the same receiving ground stations as used by multilateration (MLAT) sensors. This paper describes the integration functional architecture and the real adopted solutions of the THALES trial system as deployed in Toulouse airport as part of the European Commission cofunded project European airport Movement Management byA-SMGCS (EMMA).
