The combustion of natural gases with high molar fraction of inert gas - nitrogen, called Low Calorific Natural Gases (LCNG) in gas engines operating on gas transportation system is the main object of this work. Following the previous study of the combustion of natural gases, propane as well as low calorific natural gases in the air at a constant pressure, which furnishes the fundamentals of kinetics of combustion of LCNG, the paper presents the results of an investigation that help understand the processes of the combustion of such gases in gas engines. Some results of a primary investigation of gas engines driving a piston compressor in gas transportation system have been presented.
