This paper proposes the study of an ECCE (experimental series hybrid heavy vehicle) which power system consists on two generator units: the first one (diesel ICE + generator, 80kW) works at a constant speed and the second one (diesel ICE + doubly fed generator, 80kW) runs at variable speed. Both units supply a DC (Direct Current) bus whose rated voltage is fixed at 540V(270V) by a pack of batteries (90Ah). This twelve tons electric truck has four independent driving wheels (30kW rated powerfor each) supplied from the DC bus through four inverters. Torque references for each one are defined by a supervisor which controls also the power management. At present, the four driving motors are all different. The aim of the ECCE platform is indeed to compare different solutions of motorization and power generation in real running conditions.ECCE is a very powerful platform. It allows a lot of combination in electric power generation through various strategies and also for vehicle propulsion experimental study. Simulation tool for the ECCE test platform, is especially important since one can efficiently test new components and control strategies. The interaction with other subsystems in a vehicle can be analyzed. Moreover, this simulator can be used with relatively fine models in order to study behavior in case of default mode.
