This study investigates the complex dynamic behaviour of an automotive wiper system by determining time responses, Poincare maps and frequency spectra. The largest Lyapunov exponent is estimated from the synchronization properties to identify periodic and chaotic motions. Finally, the synchronization and the continuous control are applied to control chaotic motions. Accordingly, this study considers the non-linear dynamics and chaotic control of an automotive wiper system, which consists of two blades driven by a DC motor via the two connected four-bar linkages. Some simulation results are presented to confirm the feasibility of the proposed method.
