The spring/absorber System of vehicle is constantly improved and active systems are more and more an the rise, whereas the decrease of the undamped masses plays an important rote for improvements. This means lighter, but also softer tires. In order to absorb the tire needs absorbing rubber material. From the demand of the decrease of the undamped masses and the desire to let the tire absorb even at high frequencies, a contradiction results. In many cases clear ranking cannot be derived from characteristic values determined in the laboratory. Thus, we have to deal with a decision, which is not precise and clear in its character. Classical mathematics is not sufficient for it, the term fuzziness has to be introduced. A most important component of the Fuzzy set Theory is a mathematical framework for the accurate treatment of imprecise decisions. It was shown that especially with subjective evaluations or with computations referring to experience, the use of fuzzyness becomes necessary.
